Japji Sahib PDF English
Japji Sahib PDF English is a Sikh religious text. It is guided by spiritual truth and self-knowledge. It is a complete source of guidance for seeking individuals. The founder, Guru Nanak, wrote it.
The One cannot be established or created;
He exists by Himself, pure and untouched.
Those who serve Him receive true honour.
O Nanak, sing the praise of the Treasure of virtues.
Sing and listen, and keep love for Him in your heart;
Sorrow is removed, and peace enters one’s home.
Through the Guru is the divine sound revealed,
Through the Guru is sacred knowledge understood,
Through the Guru, the One pervades everywhere.
The Guru is Shiva, the Guru is Vishnu, the Guru is Brahma,
The Guru is Parvati, the universal mother.
Even if I knew Him, I could not fully describe Him;
Words are not sufficient to express Him.
O Guru, grant me this one understanding:
That there is only One Giver for all beings,
And may I never forget Him.
This pauri focuses on human wishes. Humans have multiple desires, but not everything is done according to their wishes. Everything is done by the order of God.
Humans think their hard work, dedication, planning, and wisdom can achieve everything, but Japji clarifiesthat everything is done according to God’s will and order.
God is free from impurity and harm and does not depend on anyone. It teaches humans that they should also reduce their attachment to worldly pleasures and desires to attain spiritual freedom.
Bathing at sacred places has value only if it pleases the Divine;
Without His will, such acts hold no real meaning.
I observe the vast creation He has brought into being,
Yet without righteous action, nothing true is attained.
Within the human intellect lie jewels, pearls, and precious gems,
If even a single teaching of the Guru is truly heard and accepted.
O Guru, grant me this one understanding:
That there is only One Giver for all living beings,
And may I never forget Him.
This Japji Sahib pauri focuses on truth and spiritual education leading to real success. It highlights the temporary nature of the human world.
People worship different holy places. If God does not exist in their hearts, it is a mere pretence. Guru Nanak says that the human heart and intention should be clean and clear.
Humans collect worldly wealth, education, and wisdom, but the true treasure is what we receive through the Guru’s education.
The Guru also repeats that a human can understand truth with the guidance of the Guru. All animate beings are under one Creator. Humans should understand that everything is provided by one God. A person can find relief and peace in life through God’s grace.
It teaches us three lessons. First, we gain benefits when our intentions are pure. Second, worldly desires, education, and wealth are temporary. Third, all animate beings are created by one God.
